Pluto industrial action

Media Statement - 27th January 2010

On the 23rd January, Fair Work Australia issued an order requiring workers engaged on the Pluto project to cease taking industrial action.

I am advised that in defiance of that order industrial action is still occurring.

The Rudd Government's laws empower Fair Work Australia and the Federal Court to deal with such unprotected industrial action and the workers involved face steep penalties under Australia's workplace relations laws.

The only responsible and lawful course is for this industrial action to cease immediately.

The Rudd Government's position on unprotected industrial action is clear. The taking of such action is completely unacceptable.
